Time to Talk - What is it?

Time to Talk Day is UK’s biggest mental health conversation set up by MIND. It’s aim is to encourage everyone to open up about their mental health and have those check-ins with friends/peers.

Small conversations do make a difference, whether to break down stigmas or to let people know they are not alone.

You can find out more on: https://www.mind.org.uk/get-involved/time-to-talk-day/

How to get involved

There are many ways to get involved, big or small. See below some ideas on how you can open up the conversation:

  • Walk and Talk - over the next week, find different colleagues to go on walks with over lunchtime, and begin to open up about mental health in the workplace to open a conversation.

  • Text a friend - Is there a friend you haven’t spoken to much recently? Sometimes one small text is all it takes to build connections and let them know they are not alone.

  • Share on social media - Look into what charities in your local area are up to spread the word over social media to break down the stigma.

Who to contact

There are multiple different organisations who can help you or a friend chat about their mental health, such as:

  • Mind - They support people experiencing mental health problems, providing advice, support, and information.

    • Text SHOUT to 852858

  • Samaritans - They offer confidential 24/7 support to those feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or struggling.

    • Call 116123

  • CALM - Campaign Against Living Miserably is focused on prevent suicide and those struggling with life. They offer free and confidential support.
